AORA Gemstone Oracle
Author James McKeon & Roberta Carothers
Illustrated by Noreen Levi & James McKeon
Publisher – Viktara Inc., 1998

Card Size/Feel – 4” x 6” – Cards have a nice sheen but are not glossy. They have a light, flexible feel that is pleasing. Size of course makes it hard for a traditional shuffle but images are well worth it.
AORA meaning Golden Light and the origin of the word Aura was a healer in Egypt as well as other realms of mythology including Greece. These cards came to the author through lucid dreaming. The deck is a little more expensive then tarot cards but these large gorgeous and intuitive cards are well worth it. The imagery and coloration leaves you wanting to stare at the cards for hours. The Oracle is based on the healing properties and energies that come from gemstones. This deck gives great readings and is a must for anyone who enjoys working with crystals and gemstones.

The Faeries Oracle
Author –Jessica Macbeth
Illustrator – Brian Froud
Publisher – Simon & Schuster 2000

Card Size/Feel – 3”x5” – Cards are shiny but not too slippery. They are thin but feel sturdy making them flexible and easy to shuffle. The backs of each card have an illustration of “The Topsie Turvets” which are cute faces in the knots of trees. Backs are reversible.
This Oracle takes us into the Fae Land of the forest. It was illustrated by the same talented Brian Froud who also brought us Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Many of the cards are very atmospheric and have a glow to them. The card is meant to work with the readers intuitions and the creators strongly urge the reader to first sit back and write down what the card means prior to reading the book. These cards do have a tendency to talk to you and the book is not really needed. Strong color work with the addition of fairies, elves, pixies and all kinds of woodland creatures makes this deck loveable for nearly everyone.

NO LONGER OWN THIS DECK
It was tough for me to give up this deck. I owned this deck a little over a year and the artwork is vivid and stunningly beautiful. There is a lovely use of color and scenery. The deck was created as a tool to use for yourself to restore memories of past lives. By learning about past lives and what karmic issues and what lessons we should have learned it is thought we can live a better life now. This is not a divination deck. It is based heavily in astrology. I had a tough time with the deck because I could not seem to even figure out which cards were which. Also the deck was too “white” for me. There was no variety to me of various cultures that I feel would be useful when exploring past lives. However again this is a lovely deck and has lovely gold edging and pretty artwork. However after a year of taking it out and not really wanting to do anything with it I finally sent it off to a better home where it will be used and loved.
